Hercules S.A. is upgrading the Turow Power Plant’s units

Hired by Polimex Energetyka S.A., we are doing work related to a project for an upgrade of boilers for units 103 of the Turow Power Plant in Bogatynia for PGE GiEK S.A.

For this purpose, we are using a new tower crane that we have purchased specifically for this project. The crane, “Terex CTT 561” with a maximum lifting capacity of 32 tons, is one of the largest that we have. It features a freestanding lifting height of 85.2 meters, which is a performance not easily to be found in Poland.

Considering specific requirements of the project, we used our largest caterpillar crane – a “Terex Demag CC2800” with a maximum lifting capacity of 600 tons in the “SSL/LSL LF2” configuration with a 138-meter main jib length, a 12-meter extension jib and a total ballast of 410 tons (250-ton superlift) – to assemble the tower crane.

The purpose of the upgrade of the boilers is to improve their performance, optimize the usage and extend their lifetimes by at least 20 years. In addition, the improved units are supposed to meet the recently tightened environmental standards.
